2009 POOL HEATER TEMPERATURE SURVEY HOMEOWNER COMMENTS

I won't swim in the pools because they are too hot for me

It is important to conserve energy in light of global warming.

I only swim in the south pool and I like it warmer. If the North pool is little used and has security issues why not close it?

I am a new resident. When you use the pools it is like being in bathwater. If This is what I wanted I would use my tub. Lower temps.

I use the pool between the months of November and May.  I would like to have the big pool heated to 85 degrees so I can enjoy it while I am here.  If that means turning off the heat in the smaller pool then so be it.  I think most folks would like to be able to use one pool all year round so let's go for the big one!  I like to swim laps and use the spa and I DO understand the high cost issue associated with heating two pools all year long.  Thanks for asking for our input on this very important issue.

I would be for turning down the heat in the small pool - but  would like the large one to stay at 85 degrees - I think the question wasn't presented correctly

One pool should be adequate for the winter.  Try reducing the heat a couple of degrees: 83 and see what reaction you get.

In years past the pool temp was very nice in the winter.  We went swimming two weekends ago and I thought the temp was too cold I was not sure if the heat had been turned on yet.

just turn off dec 1 - feb 1 coldest months and keep 85 rest of time people can go to ymca dec- feb  we can buy several passes for people who need pool these times of the year.

Heated pools were a BIG reason that I wanted to move into this community.

I would support keeping one at 85 degrees.  Not both at 81-81.  If we do that - we need to understand what we are doing with the cost savings and if enough money to reduce overall dues is.

You didn't give us a good choice for the YES you have an or in the statement.  NR should turn off the gas at one pool and lower that pool temperature also.  $33000 is alot of money.  I have my own pool and know how much gas cost.  I don't use the pool after the summer.

I don't see very many people using the pools in the winter anyway

I would think that you could save more money by shutting off the heat in the small pool.  It is so close to the large pool anyone could just walk over to the large pool to use it instead.  I am there often for water fitness and not many people are there.

WE HAVE HAD KNEE SURGERY AND BACK SURGERY AND WE HAVE TO HAVE WARM WATER TO EXERCISE>THIS IS A MUST ACCORDING TO OUR SURGENS.THE SMALL POOL IS SO MUCH EASIER FOR US OLDER PEOPLE TO USE>THE KIDDS THAT COME TO THE SMALL POOL ARE NOT AS YOUNG OR ROUDY AS THE LARGE POOL.

This has changed over the years.  First the pool was open 24/7.  Now it has limited to certain hours.

I don't believe an email vote is sufficient for input. Many homeowners do not have email or even know that there is a survey. The question above under yes asks two questions and should be 2 questions under a separate vote.  I really don't like this survey at all.  First of all the pool committee should meet and post that the water temperatures is on the agenda so we can actually have real input Yes I would vote to have one pool shut down preferably the small pool.

Should we move to discontinue heating one of the pools for strictly economic reasons I would suggest we shut off the south pool as the costs for heating it are nearly double that of the north pool.  From the number of swimmers stated there would be no overcrowding.

The best way to handle this situation is to keep both pools open and to reduce the temps to 82 degrees this way everyone has a choice of which pool to use. In order for the assn. to keep costs to a reasonable level this seems to be the best solution. Everyone should remember the fewer costs to the assn. the better chance that the Bod will be able to keep our assessments frozen hopefully for the foreseeable future.

We need to save energy and reduce costs. Close the south pool everyone can use the north pool.

I am at the age where I am developing very stiff joints and the only type of exercise I can do comfortably is jogging in the pool.  The only thing that seems to help my flexibility is sitting and stretching in the hottub. I like the back up of another pool when something goes wrong at the big pool but if we had to close one pool then I feel it should be the small pool but then keep the big pool as it is at about 85%. Thanks for all the care that goes into the pool.  It makes this neighborhood very unique and a desirable place to live.  I would consider the solar heat and also trying to go without a security guard now that we have cameras.

First:  I am greatly annoyed that most of the board members and Mr. Chris seem to believe in the mantra: We are saving money...I believe that is not your job ... I believe your job is to maintain the amenities that existed when I purchased my house in 200l. Second: You all spent $60000 on resurfacing the tennis courts and you quibble about the pools... Third: Some of the folks who visit the pools are handicapped and cooler water will do them no good. Fourth: I am also annoyed by the people who say "I spoke with several and they said (fill in the blank______________________________.  Fifth: If you ever had a statistics class one knows that a microscopic sample is not reflective of the Ranch as a whole...Bad sampliing. If you multiply 60.50$ ( our current monthly dues times the number of households it seems that there is mucho money to do the amenities that existed when I purchased my home..715 homes times 60.50 equals...$519090 yearly...It seems we have mucho money to keep up 2 pools...KEEP BOTH POOLS OPEN!!!! Why list only North Pool expense?

The NEW board has been able to bring the community back to what it was before. If they say close a pool or reduce temperatures then so be it.

Pools are a luxury! We need to save money and keep assessments from going higher and higher. reduce temperatures!

I know a lot of people won't agree but we do have to save our money times are tuff.  Not many people use the pool in the winter months and they can adjust to lower the heat.  I know I will like it.

We elected the board. They are doing a great job! Let them continue close a pool or reduce temperatures. Save money makes sense to me!

Very few people use the pools when it gets cold. Using 1 pool during the winter makes sense.

Many of us much prefer the north pool to the south pool and if owners that go to the north pool prefer certainly the temps can be turned down but I personally know that many of us that go to the north pool do prefer 85 degrees.

Go to the pools in the winter, very few residents there. Lower temps and close the north pool.

pool are too warm lower temperatures or close small pool save us money.

I have lived here since 1991. This board had done Great Improvements. Listen to them and reduce temps if they say it is needed.

The lower temperatures are still toasty enough to make the pools enjoyable during the cooler times, so I vote for lowering the temperature and using the saved money on something else.

Actually you have given two choices in the yes answer. Which one will you follow? I vote for turning off the gas in one pool and leaving the other pool at 85 degrees, not or. If the big one only invites a total of 7 people during a day, then I would turn the gas off in the big one. The little pool will certainly accommodate 7 people, even if all at one time.

Close down the North Pool or sell it!
